LimeCrime Lipsticks!

Yes yes, I know, you probably dont like LimeCrime because of all the drama and bad people and blah blah, I don't care for that really, yeah it kinda sucks but I just want pretty lipsticks and I don't want to search high and low for good dupes.

So anyway, I ordered my things from Cocktail Cosmetics on the 19th, which was a Saturday, but the Saturday of the Easter weekend so I was expecting it to take a little while to come. I received an email on the Tuesday evening saying my order had been dispatched and that because of Easter to expect my items to take 3-5 working days to arrive, which was fair enough, because the post would be behind and whatnot. I was pleasantly surprised to find they actually got delivered on the Wednesday, which is cool. I don't like waiting for things to arrive, i'm super impatient, especially when its something i'm really looking forward to. The lipsticks arrived in a small cardboard box filled with cute purple shredded paper stuff, and they were lined up super nice so that the boxes made a whole unicorn which is really cool, I don't know if that was just coincidence or on purpose, but I like it regardless.

I ordered Airborne Unicorn (Medium purple with a neon note. Hue as mysterious as the animal itself...), Great Pink Planet (Pastel pink with a neon note -- think Malibu Barbie!), Coquette,(Pale, peachy-nude.) and Cosmopop (Soft orange -- think creamsicle.).

From L to R: Airborne Unicorn, Cosmopop, Coquette, Great Pink Planet.

Everyone knows the packaging is super cute so I'll ignore that, as for the lipsticks themselves, they have a faint vanilla smell, and to apply they're hard, but creamy, its quite odd! They feel a little heavy on the lips too but that could be because I don't usually wear anything on my lips. They do apply super opaque though, one coat is plenty to get a really nice finish and normally within half an hour I've licked all the colour away but i've had the same one on for 2 now and it's not budged at all, which is really nice.

Top left: Airborne Unicorn, Top right: Great Pink Planet,
Bottom left: Cosmopop, Bottom right: Coquette

These are all (badly) applied with one coat straight from the tube, all very opaque and not matte, but not frosty or shiny either. The only one thats not completely opaque is Airborne Unicorn towards the middle of the bottom lip, but that may well be because I didn't take off Great Pink Planet, which I applied before, properly. Strangely enough, the one I find hardest to wear is Great Pink Planet, I thought it was going to be Airborne Unicorn because who does purple lipstick? but I think the Barbieness of Great Pink Planet just makes it look a little strange to me. I was pleasantly surprised by coquette too since every other nude shade I've tried has looked awful on my skin, but I like how this one looks. I really like these lipsticks and I can definitely see past the price and drama associated with them, especially since they're made in the USA and are cruelty free,  I would quite like to get the rest of the shades, not that I could pull off mint green and yellow!

Hello there!

Hello! I enjoy cosmetics, cats and cosplay. I wanted a place where I can waffle on all I want about these things and figured a blog was probably the best place for this.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Robyn, I am currently 22 years old. I am currently studying a computing and IT degree concentrating on software development and working as a waitress. I have 4 cats and live with my boyfriend whom I've been with for 6 years. My cats are called Blackcat, Orangecat, Jessie and James and are all very lovely and just my favourite things ever.

I have recently been interested in cosplay and am currently making a Peach dress based off the one she wears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This is a rather frustrating progress as most of it is just trial and error and me hoping for the best since I've never really done any proper sewing before.

Makeup has always been a hobby of mine, ever since I was about 14 I think. I by no means consider myself an expert of any kind and just do things that work for me. Recently I found Reddit, and on Reddit there's a small place (well actually, it's rather large) called /r/MakeupAddiction and it quickly became one of my favourite places. Everyone there is lovely and they soon rekindled my love for all things cosmetic and probably fuelled the idea behind this blog.

I would imagine that I'll use this blog for other things not directly related to any of the things in the name, sometimes I like to bake, and I really enjoy going to the zoo or safari parks will probably have posts about those things too, just generally anything in my life that i do rather enjoy. I'd imagine the majority of this blog will be makeup looks that i've done, updates on my forever changing hair, weird or naughty things that cats have done and cosplay progress. Hopefully in the not too distant future I'll have some fun posts happening so I hope you'll be back to read.

Thanks,
Robyn x
